Very nice app. To those who want the ability to dictate...try downloading the Dragon Dictation App. You can copy and paste. It works well for me.

Ive had this translator over a year and i have nothing good to say about it. Translation from english to spanish have come up mistranslated. I work with lots of spanish and conversations had to be cut short because of this crappy app. If you try to translate sentences from eng to span and from span to eng, you may not even get the sentence you started with. Im done with this app.

This is only one of many apps I have that are still non functional and waiting Apples approval. THIS IS NOT THE DEVELOPERS FAULT FOLKS! This app is the BEST translator period. It is worth much more than 1.99!! I use it for business and the Spanish speakers I email with think I speak excellent Spanish! Little do they know. We all just have to be patient and stop whining. Apple should have approved these existing apps for 4.0 before the release. UPDATE:The app is still good, one of the best but I no longer recommend this app or any of the Future Apps Inc. applications due to nonexistent customer support. I have been emailing the developers for months and not a one response. Not even a auto generated response. They lost my support.

It deserved 0 stars.. Its not accurate. Im taking Spanish and I typed in these words and they were complety wrong .. Not accurate.

Most of them are really hard to use, especially if you want to randomly translate from language 1 to language 2, as you would if trying to have a conversation with someone. This one is easy, just press a button to reverse translation direction. And the speaking feature works nicely.

Awesome app...the voice is out of this world is is worth it just for that.

Great purchase

Great app but dont males and females speak Spanish differently? ex. Males say el where females say la. If so this would be a great option on an update.

It was great but the voice could be enhanced a little more for clearer understanding,but besides that it is awesome!

I have 9 Spanish Apps in my iPhone. This is the very best Ive used! I just bought the iSpeak French by Future Apps for my granddaughter based on my experience with the Spanish version. I also bought the French version for myself so I can attempt to communicate with my grand in French while she taking it in school.

I bought this app for my 12 year old daughter.......she ADDICTED to it! U cant get her off of it. She now walking around the house and is speaking Spanish. SHE lOVES THIS APP

Great App but some words in Spain are different than Mexico. An update to translate to Mexico Spanish would make it PERFECT.

I bought this app to help me communicate with my co-workers, it isnt correct sentence structure. The sentences are not structured correctly but the words are mostly correct. I showed it to my Spanish speaking co-workers and they said the sentences were 8 out of 10 times incorrect, waste of $2.

This is so useful, so fast, great pronunciation help!

Pretty awesome app for the price! Very handy to have. It helps if you have a bit of Spanish language background already. Great features, best Ive seen so far.

Tested on an iPad with iOS 4.1 Pretty good, but the voice is terrible. "Esposa" is pronounced "Esposai." "Vivir" is pronounced with a click humans dont make. Some basic sentences change meaning completely when translated back and forth. Drink soda became obtain soda. Huge distortions. I also have iTranslate, which is similar but handles many languages. It actually does a much nicer job, especially with pronunciation accuracy.

I decided to review this app by picking prose samples out of newspapers, the New York Times for English and El País (Madrid) for Spanish. Since I already use free online translators a lot, I knew what to expect. Such software does a very good job going from English to Spanish, although the result always sounds stilted in Spanish. English is an easy language to translate from, and that’s one reason why it’s becoming the lingua franca. One difficulty that all translation engines have is that English has a tendency to string a lot of adjectives together, so that the order in which they modify one another becomes ambiguous. English also has many complex compounds and words with several meanings or connotations. The results of machine translators are not nearly as good in the other direction. That may be because of an economic fact ... programmers have a better incentive to master and perfect the language tools for English because most of the world’s information is in English and needs to be translated to other languages. There is not nearly as strong an economic incentive to make machine translation work well in the other direction. I have no trouble reading iSpeaks Spanish, but let me try to improve it a bit. Like other machine translation engines, iSpeak dumbs down the Spanish translation, usually omitting elegant features of Spanish such as the subjunctive. Spanish also offers much greater freedom of word order than 
English, a feature which good writers use to great effect. Have reasonable expectations. This program has an easy interface, and it performs a difficult task very rapidly, returning results in at most a few seconds. It costs very little for what it can do. It won’t be your prose stylist for you, but at almost any level, it can help you communicate. Of course it requires you to connect with a central server! The iPads processor is optimized for graphics, not data retrieval. A translator on your own iPad 
would use up an unreasonable amount of its precious memory, and take many hours to download.

This translator requires an Internet connection to translate. I bought this thinking I would be able to use it when I travel, for shopping and general assistance or direction. Useless for my intention... But gave it a second star because it does work and speaking is clear. Would be great to learn Spanish but not as a translator... After all Internet is not so easily found when you are traveling. I also bought the Mac app... But I wont be carrying that around. : (
